THE POWER OF LINEN

BY ANJA RUBIK

FOR ZARA

My love affair with linen started when I moved to Sydney’s northern beaches with a pair of shorts I’d bought from Oysho quite a few years before whilst waiting to board a flight in Barcelona’s airport.

I have worn them and many other linen pieces since and built up quite a collection, from mens over sized shirts whilst I was pregnant to beach wraps that I wear as sarongs to tailored pieces such an over-sized blazer and some high waisted trousers. As soon as the first warm day of summer arrives I know that it’s time to pop it all back in my wardrobe.

I love the natural feel and look of linen, it’s easy to style and wear, I love how it can be sheer and let the light through and you can see the rawness of it. It’s messy and beautiful, it gets better with age (apart from my Oysho shorts) they have definitely seen better days.

Zara’s collection of key linen pieces worn by Anja Rubik sums up beautifully the versatility of this wonderful fabric.
