I always like to pack as light as possible when I go away. I remember taking a regular sized backpack to Thailand once for a 2 week work trip as we needed all the bagged allowance for the clothes we were shooting. Since then I have never looked back, although I do allow myself a suitcase now if I’m going away from more than a week and especially now with a toddler in tow.

THE HOLIDAY DRESS
A good holiday dress in my book should take you to and from the destination and work equally as well with the right accessories for ANYTIME of the day for the duration of your stay.
Travel - A jumper tied around your shoulders to wear if it gets cold on. the flight, or with a light cropped denim or canvas style jacket and Converse style trainers.
Beach - Tan sandals and a straw bag.
Evening - Hair up, worn off the face in a low bun, clean skin and a statement lip or earrings and fine sandals.

THE MIDI-SKIRT

I’ve been looking for a piece like this for my wardrobe for a while. Midi-skirts that have a straightness to them can sometimes feel a little stuffy but this fabric and tone feels relaxed and easy. It will also look more beautiful when crumpled which is lucky / inevitable with this fabric.
I’ll be wearing this over a bikini as a beach cover up, with a linen shirt in a neutral tone tied at the waist or worn open to take this look for lunch and with a scrappy or matching top for dinner. For Spring and Autumn I’ll wear with Birkenstocks and socks and layer a baggy jumper over.

THE CROCHET COVER UP
If you like to wear a sarong or shorts over a bikini and feel a bit self-conscious without, then I would like to introduce you to the powers of crochet ! It’s so flattering as it blurs lines and is a great way to elevate and add a new dimension to your holiday wardrobe.
I would wear this dress over a bikini or swimsuit on the beach, for lunch or out to dinner, keep your swimwear neutral and close to the colour of the crochet if you are wearing for evening as then it feels like it’s part of the dress. If this feels too daring then a slip or mini skirt worn under would also work.

THE STATEMENT SARONG
I love the tones in this print, great if you have a lot of browns, creams in your wardrobe. Like the holiday shirt, a printed sarong can add so many new outfit options to an other-wise neutral wardrobe. My favourite way to wear this is long length with a linen shirt tied at the waist for a relaxed evening look. I would always keep my accessories tan with this sort of print so there is no fighting for attention. To make your look more fun, fold in half and style as a mini skirt, a print like this also looks great worn as a turban.
